Cannabis is believed to have been first domesticated in East Asia approximately 12,000 years ago during the early Neolithic period, with evidence suggesting usage for fiber, oil, and, later, its medicinal and psychoactive properties. Ancient records indicate usage in China by the 3rd century AD and in Egypt by the 18th century BC.
Key details regarding the history of cannabis discovery include:
- Archaeological Evidence: The plant was likely utilized as early as the Pre-Pottery Neolithic B period (8800–6500 BCE).
- Early Uses: It was traditionally valued for industrial fiber, rope, food, and medicine.
- Ancient Records: The Greek historian Herodotus recorded the Scythians using it in steam baths around 440 BCE.
- Medical Application: Ancient Egyptian papyri from 1700–1300 BC, such as the Ebers Papyrus, mention its use for inflammation.
What is the difference between medical use and recreational use The primary difference lies in purpose:
- Purpose & Usage: Medical use is for managing symptoms like chronic pain, epilepsy, or nausea. Recreational use is for recreational enjoyment, often referred to as "getting high".
- Access & Legal Status: Medical cannabis typically requires a doctor's prescription or recommendation, often leading to a specific medical cannabis card. Recreational use is permitted for adults over a certain age (e.g., 21+) in legal jurisdictions.
- Potency & Composition: Medical cannabis is often tailored for therapeutic effect (e.g., higher CBD, lower THC), while recreational cannabis often prioritizes high THC levels.
- Quality Control: Medical cannabis is often GMP-certified (Good Manufacturing Practice), ensuring known, consistent cannabinoid concentrations.
- Regulation & Tax: Medical users might have higher possession limits and lower taxes in certain areas, whereas recreational users face stricter limits.
- Recreational Use: Weed, pot, dope, grass, non-medical, adult-use, cannabis.
- Medical Use: Medicinal marijuana, medical cannabis, therapeutic cannabis, CBD products.
- Medical Example: A patient using a high-CBD oil to manage epilepsy or using specific indica strains to reduce chronic pain and muscle spasms.
- Recreational Example: An individual consuming a high-THC edible or smoking a cannabis joint for relaxation, pleasure, or to feel "high".
CBD/THC oil is not intended to youse as medication but consult your Dr before useing. ALL CBD products are 0.2% THC legal requirements to UK no more than 1mg per bottle
UK cannabis research focuses on its mental health impacts, especially links between self-medication and paranoia, DNA markers from high-potency use, and improving evidence for cannabis-based medicines (CBMs), with major studies from King's College London/Bath revealing risks and advocating for better data to guide NHS prescribing, though stigma and legal Class B status remain challenges. I have done a bit of research on low THC and high CBD I have schizophrenia and I have tested cannabis/cannabinoids since 2017 on my self and I've found CBD is a mussle relaxer THC is a painkiller but the low THC has helped my mental illness CBD relaxis muscles and acts like a valum (diazepam)™I've been off opium painkillers benzene sleeping tablets ect I'm coming of anti depressants I don't take insulin for my diabetes was diagnosed in2020 the year is 2026 but people please consult your doctor before you think about trying cannabis products With low THC (IM PROBABLY THE FIRST PIRSON WITH MENTAL HEALTH TO BE ALLOWED LOW THC OBIDEING BUY THE LAW OF THE UK LIMMET WITCH IS 0.2% TO 1MG PER BAG OR BOTTLE)
Key Research Areas & Findings:
- Mental Health Risks: The "Cannabis & Me" study found self-medicating for anxiety, depression, or pain at high level of THC increases paranoia risk, with users consuming more cannabis and having worse outcomes
- High-Potency Cannabis: Research by King's College London and Exeter identified unique DNA changes from high-THC cannabis, potentially helping identify those at risk for psychosis.
- Medical Cannabis Evidence: Studies aim to build evidence to reduce clinician hesitancy, with projects like Drug Science's T21 registry gathering real-world data on CBMs for conditions like epilepsy.
UK research and clinical data suggest that very low, medically supervised doses of THC, often in balanced formulations with CBD, may offer benefits for some patients with mental health conditions, particularly anxiety and PTSD, but the evidence is still considered "nascent" (embryonic) and not conclusive. Self-medicating with non-prescribed cannabis is associated with increased mental health risks. So please consult your doctor and psychiatrist before trying cannabis products so you can be monitored.
Key Findings from UK Research
- Medical Supervision is Crucial: The potential benefits are observed within a clinical context, where doses are strictly monitored and gradually adjusted by a specialist doctor.
- Anxiety and Depression: Real-world evidence from the UK Medical Cannabis Registry and Project Twenty21 indicates that prescribed cannabis-based medicinal products (CBMPs) are associated with reported improvements in anxiety and depression symptoms for some patients who haven't responded to conventional treatments.
- Low THC, High CBD Often Preferred: Products with a balanced THC/CBD profile or those dominant in CBD appear most promising for anxiety and mood support. High-THC formulations are generally advised against, especially for those with a history of anxiety or psychotic disorders.
- Dose-Dependent Effects: The effects of THC are dose-dependent. Low doses may have anxiolytic (anxiety-reducing) properties for some individuals, while high doses are linked to increased anxiety, paranoia, and a higher risk of psychosis.
- Lack of High-Quality Evidence: The Royal College of Psychiatrists and systematic reviews highlight a lack of high-quality, long-term randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to definitively prove the efficacy and safety of cannabinoids for mental disorders. Much of the current positive data comes from observational studies, which cannot prove cause and effect.
- Risks of Self-Medication: The largest UK study of its kind (the "Cannabis & Me" survey from King's College London and the University of Bath) found that people who use cannabis to self-medicate for pain, anxiety, or depression are more likely to use higher amounts of CBD 25% for mental illness. but if you have higher THC you will experience higher levels of paranoia, anxiety, and depression so keep the level of THC down to one mg. recreational users prefer THC to be at least 45% so they get a high
In summary, while there is emerging evidence and anecdotal support for low-dose THC under medical guidance, especially when combined with CBD, it is not a universally recommended treatment and carries potential risks. The medical community stresses the need for more rigorous research to establish clear guidelines for its use in mental health treatment. So I started my own testing on my self I have found that THC in small micro dose of .2 micrograms helps with mental health symptoms such as schizophrenia and CBDwith THC helps with chronic pain I've not had diazipam or sleeping tablets or opium tablets since 2017 it's 2026 now I also treat my diabetes with eating hemp flowers because it generates insulin in to your body it has antiinflammatory properties but this has not been aproved till today I'm not a medical professional so Dr,s whould debunk my research but let me explain how many properties cannabis has
The cannabis plant has a vast array of properties due to its complex chemical makeup, which includes over 500 chemical compounds. The most significant group of these compounds are the cannabinoids, of which more than 120 different types have been identified.
Key Chemical Properties
The properties of cannabis are primarily driven by two main cannabinoids:
- Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC): This is the primary psychoactive compound responsible for the "high" associated with cannabis use. It interacts with the brain's cannabinoid (CB1) receptors to produce effects like euphoria, relaxation, altered time perception, and increased appetite.
- Cannabidiol (CBD): This cannabinoid is non-intoxicating and is widely studied for its therapeutic properties. It is used to help reduce inflammation, pain, anxiety, and seizures. In some cases mental illness your psychiatrist has to agree tho.Times are changing and Dr,s are recognised the medical benefits of cannabis CBD/THC for mental illness.
Other compounds, such as terpenes (responsible for the plant's aroma and flavor) and flavonoids, also contribute to the plant's overall effects through what is known as the "entourage effect".
Physiological and Therapeutic Properties
Cannabis and its constituent compounds have a wide range of documented effects on the human body, including:
- Analgesic (Pain Relief): Effective for managing chronic and neuropathic pain.
- Anti-inflammatory: Can reduce inflammation throughout the body, including in the gut and brain.
- Anticonvulsant: The FDA has approved a CBD-based prescription medicine (Epidiolex) for treating certain types of epilepsy.
- Antiemetic: Helps to alleviate nausea and vomiting, particularly those associated with chemotherapy.
- Appetite Stimulant: Known to increase appetite, often beneficial for patients with conditions like AIDS or cancer.
- Muscle Relaxant: Can help reduce muscle spasticity, such as in individuals with multiple sclerosis.
- Anxiolytic/Sedative: Depending on the strain and dosage, it can produce feelings of relaxation and reduce anxiety.
- Neuroprotective: Research suggests potential for protecting neurons and aiding in the management of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
- Mental illness trials coming soon I'm trying to get the psychiatrist to agree
Hemp flower refers to the buds from the Cannabis sativa plant specifically cultivated to have high levels of CBD (cannabidiol) and very low levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol, the compound causing a "high"), typically under 0.2%. These flowers are rich in beneficial cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, offering relaxation and wellness benefits without intoxication, and can be used in teas, edibles, or vapes for stress relief, pain, and sleep.
Key characteristics
- Plant Source: It's the same plant species as marijuana (Cannabis sativa), but bred for different traits, like a dog breed.
- Low THC: Contains trace amounts of THC (usually <0.2%), making it non-psychoactive.
- High CBD: Bred to maximize CBD, known for its therapeutic properties.
- Full Spectrum: Contains other compounds like terpenes and minor cannabinoids (CBG, CBN, etc.) that work together (entourage effect) for enhanced benefits.
Common uses
- Infusions: Brewed into teas or used to make edibles like butter for cooking.
- Vaping: Dried buds can be vaped to deliver CBD quickly.
- Topicals: Infused into creams and salves for localized relief.
IS THC A PAIN KILLER
Yes, THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) shows promise and evidence for relieving pain, particularly chronic pain, by interacting with the body's endocannabinoid system to reduce pain signals and inflammation, with many users finding it effective and reducing reliance on opioids; however, research is ongoing, and effects vary, with some studies showing potential for mild to moderate relief, while high doses might increase pain sensitivity.
-
Anti-inflammatory Properties:It may also provide anti-inflammatory effects, further helping to ease discomfort.
Substantial Evidence:
-
User Reports:Many users report significant pain relief, often reducing their use of opioids and other pain medications.
-
Research Findings:Studies suggest THC can offer mild to moderate pain relief, comparable to some conventional pain relievers, for conditions like chronic back pain, arthritis, and neuropathic pain.Important Considerations
